CONTINUING THE JOURNEY OF REDEFINING SUCCESS

Drapac Professional Cycling has been on an epic journey that began in 2004, with a simple yet unique philosophy – using cycling as the medium to redefine the way not only athletes, but also how our society measures success.

We live in a new world. Whether in business or in sport, the age-old metrics of success have been redefined. For Drapac Professional Cycling, the team that truly wins is the team with a more sustainable and broader imperative: a holistic approach to athlete development, athlete transition education and grassroots programs.

The Drapac sporting philosophy believes in broader values and objectives in the sport of cycling and strives to share with the world an active healthy lifestyle propelled by our athletes being positive role models and citizens. Drapac Professional Cycling has built three distinct pillars to our organisation, creating a balanced platform to launch our athletes from.

The first pillar is a sports program to allow our athletes to perform to the highest level. We want to offer our athletes the tools to bring out the best of their sporting ability and, at the same time, develop balance in life. With our redefining success program, we strive to leave a positive legacy as a sports team by embracing the community and developing our athletes beyond world-class sportsmen. This community engagement allows the athletes a sense of personal fulfilment off the racecourse, and a greater sense of worth.

The second is an activation program to help our partners leverage and activate on their partnership with the team. This activation occurs on and off the racecourse. The athletes are ambassadors for our team, our partners, our communities and sport. Our partners are an integral aspect of our high performing team. Our activation program fosters opportunities for our partners’ ambitions to drive their brands through our performance during races and our performances as citizens.

The fundamental pillar is the transition program. The transition program starts at the beginning of the cycling career and is developed along side the athletes cycling career and is in place when the athletic career is finished; it is too late to begin the transition when an athlete’s career comes to an end. An athlete needs time to cultivate the transition process. This can not be done when the cycling career has ended and the athlete is closed out of what they feel is their sole identity, their self-worth. The transition program is our commitment to our athletes and we believe a step towards greater ethical leadership in sport.

In 2015, we strive to strengthen the three pillars we have built. We aim to achieve stronger results on the racecourse, expanding on our best year yet, 2014. The Drapac brand has a strong philosophy and ethos and as such, has built a champion cycling team who will continue to, and always stand by their principles of being:

CHAMPIONS OF CHANGE FOR THE BETTER

We are leading the way to show that sport can change and unite.

CHAMPIONS OF SUCCESS MEASURED BY PRINCIPLES

We redefine the way not only athletes, but also how our society, measures success.

CHAMPIONS OF EMBRACING COMMUNITY

We care about our athletes as people, who in turn care about their community.

CHAMPIONS OF REDEFINING ETHICS

Ethics takes centre stage in everything we do and everything we stand for.

CHAMPIONS OF BEING MORE THAN AN ATHLETE

We create multi dimensional people, not just athletes, by placing equal emphasis on athletic, career, personal and social development.

CHAMPIONS OF MAKING WELLBEING A GOAL

Our athlete’s wellbeing is as important as any race. We strive to create well balanced and well-rounded citizens.

CHAMPIONS OF TAKING THE LEAD

Taking the lead doesn’t just mean winning, it means taking the lead in ethics, integrity and sustainability.

CHAMPIONS OF EARNING RESPECT

From the very beginning we have set out to earn respect not only from the cycling community, but from everyone.

CHAMPIONS OF COMPETING WITH PRIDE

Competing is taking pride in being something better than we were yesterday, as a competitor and as an individual.

Our long-term ambition is to bring our philosophy on redefining success and positive legacy to the Arc de Triomphe in 2018. We plan to do this step-by-step, day-by-day, with precision, dedication and passion to the core values of Drapac.

We invite you to join our journey whether you are a fan (of cycling), a sports-loving citizen, partner, journalist and/or organiser. Join us in redefining the metrics of success in the world of sports.
