The Medical Team

Further to the mentoring program, a Medical Team has been established to assist each athlete. Physical and mental wellbeing is as essential as personal development and to this end we have developed a Medical Team comprising of specialist medical practitioners. Comprising of general practitioners, sports scientists, exercise physiologists, chiropractors, orthotists and respiratory experts, all the medical and well being needs of the Program are catered for. The Medical Team comprises the following individuals:

DR VICTOR PORTELLI BSc (Biology), BSc (Chiropractic)

Dr. Vic has been supporting the team since 2003 with chiropractic and kinesiology treatment. Dr Vic holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Biology and Chiropractic and through his business Essentials of Health, treats the riders and program staff. His knowledge about athletes and their requirements is exceptional and he always finds time to see athletes within his busy schedule.

JASON NICOLS BSc (Prosthetics), BSc (Orthotics)

Jason is the director of Inspired Orthotic Solutions (IOS) and has been supporting the Program since its inception. Jason holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Prosthetics and Orthotics and assists the team with everything to do with their feet! Jason has a diverse background ranging from prosthetic limb replacements, shoe designing, and the complicated world of orthotics and bracing. As an alternative to conventional hard orthotics, IOS has the latest technology in walking gait analysis using the new FOOTMAXX system to show where these painful problems originate. IOS has travelled the world servicing the feet of international athletes. Our riders regularly seek Jason’s assistance with their cycling shoes as well as their footwear for other activities. Jason’s business ranges from the local community to elite athletes.
